I am reminded of the day when I was told I could not be
given a permanent job in a school coz I was past 40. It angered me. I, a rebel, wanted to fight this battle. But before doing that, I stepped back and
thought, Do I want to be a part of that education system where a child's
thoughts and dreams are chopped mercilessly even before their tiny wings can
begin to flutter? Where the voice of the innocent is silenced even before they
can utter a word? Do I want to be a part of that system? If yes, I must fight.
But if I want to re-live those golden moments where a child was alive coz he was
speaking his or her heart, they were alive coz they were heard and they had the
freedom to dream, explore and invent...if that's the life I am seeking then why
waste my time and energy fighting the system which can never change even if you
give your life to it. So I walked out of that life to explore and find a new
path.
Same
thing applies to any other profession.... One needs to think if it is worth
fighting for certain aspects? Who is it going to benefit? Is it what you are
seeking...the highest level? If yes, then go for it and think of ways to change
the system but try something new, go on an untrodden path. But if the struggle
is not worth it, then look for your purpose in life. Dont give your time and
energy for the people who do not value your struggle and who are used to
slavery. I hope it makes sense.
